We're all good and watching with interest. Got off a cruise ship in NYC this am. Was in Bermuda but had to come back a day early because of the storm. We could leave today or wait till Monday. We left. Rain off and on till PA.

Saw dozens of hydro line trucks heading towards the storm. Still remember what they meant to us ib Florida. Now home safe and sound.
 
FYI, I'll translate for our learned friend from the great white north: hydro=electric south of the border :smile:

Obviously all eyes are on NC to NYC but - Irene passed by here with big waves and minor errosion. I bought a buoy-bell wind-chime thingy in Maine, hung it up, and I think Irene made it ring three times.
 
So far so good but it has not hit us yet and maybe a few more hours till it does. Right now only damage is a gutter on the garage from a large branch, my driveway gate was ripped off it's hinges, lost the trellis and my screen door was taken off. We'll be fine.
 
Chester County area of S.E PA here. Some tornado warnings were just a few miles away last night. Lots of rain - my "scientific" water bucket positioned in a sheltered area has at least 10 inches of water in it; about double what the official numbers are reporting for the region - ?.

Just drizzling now and the wind is still gusting although not too badly. Haven't been out except around the house. I am sure that trees will be down, but not the one just outside our property that I had hoped would come down.

RANT ALERT

Why do we still have to see weather reporters showing how brave (stupid) they are by standing out in the heart of it? It's very windy and there's lot of rain; we have seen it before - we get it.

Then there was the bottle blonde on the TV last night saying, "If you have lost power you can listen to a radio simulcast of us on ...".
If I have lost power, THEN MY TV DOESN'T WORK AND I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Thanks Mickey. Unfortunately, it washed out one of the few car shows that my schedule will allow me to attend this year. So instead, I shall hunker down in the basement and continue trying to repair the Jag's heater box.
 
On the extreme western fringe here. rain, moderate wind. a damp blustery day here. I doubt we'll see much storm damage aside from a few limbs that needed to come down anyway. The windows have been rattling all day (Original windows from 1921) I took in any yard furniture that was prone to wind damage, and hid the garbage cans in the garage.
That's about it.
 
Lost power here for 6 hours and a big tree down in my back yard.... I feel lucky!

All good here. No power for 13 hours but generator kept sump pump and fridge going so we have dry basement and cold beer.

In-laws still have no power (in Morristown NJ) so we're heading over with the generator and wet/dry vac to help them with minor water in basement.

Our friends at the Jersey Shore did OK too....they were in the most precarious situation.

Whew!
 
DC was no worse than a typical summer soaker. Lots of little branches around, and a fair amount of rain. Didn't even blow the covers off of the cars in the shop parking lot. My parents live on the Eastern Shore, near Chestertown. They had one tree go down, no gamage to house or cars, and 10 1/2 inches of rain, measured in a rain guage. They have no power, so no water.... My kid lives on the Northern Neck, Virginias eastern shore. He was expecting an "event", so he stayed. Didn't even lose power. We Will Rebuild!!!! Going to work on one of the 'vair heads anyway...
 
We had no power for about 14 hours ending at 10:30 Sunday morning. Mostly minor damage caused by falling trees. It was wild. I am northeast of Richmond, Virginia.

Earthquake and hurricane in the same week.....I am watching for locusts.

I suppose if you're one of those Luddites like me who still tries to keep a battery-powered portable radio handy....

Many of the "newscasters" up here kept touting access to their web site and Facebook pages, etc. Sigh...

Maybe I'm the only person left in upstate NY who doesn't have a laptop with a great battery...or a smart phone that can make calls, access the Internet, polish floors, spin flax into gold, etc., etc. :wall:

On the positive side, I had almost no damage around my property, and I never lost power or landline phone/DSL! :banana:
