Possible wiring problem?

As I begin to add this up, I have a question for the pros out there.

Since I rebuilt the engine, and I added the Petronix Ignitor system I have had to replace a coil and now my generator is out. Is there a possibility that I have wired the coil wrong? Or something under the dash that may have caused this or is the failed coil and generator a matter of bad luck? The car runs great 'cept for these items that I have had to deal with.

Second part, I am replacing my generator and my car is a posi ground that has been converted to neg ground. Do I need to do anything to install the new generator?

Hi Vello, Yes the new generator will require polarizing before it will operate correctly. This simply accomplished by disconnecting the field terminal on the generator and flashing it to a known +12V source. If you have a service Manual you can also review the procedure in there.

Regarding wiring a Neg ground Pert up, it is the simplest to do. Coil connections " POS " to SW [white wire from wire harness] & Red Wire from the Pert. "NEG" to Black wire from Pert. Optional; B/W wire to Cut off SW in boot also can connect to the Neg terminal on the coil.---Fwiw--Keoke

I figured as much on the polarizing, but wanted to verify. Yes, the ignitor is simple to wire, it just seems that between the coil and the generator, things went south after I installed it.
