TR6 Possible rebuild of SU-HS6 Carbs for TR6

hi, those are definitly the hs6 carbs and yes they look like they came from a volvo. they will bolt right up to your manifold. these are the same ones i started with. like i said i would change the float bowls to the spitfire sloat bowls so they sit correctly and wont create that flat spot or richness that someone mentioned earlier.

it is not the float bowls that need changing, but the adapter between the bowl and the body. I would also suggest that you will need to adapt your existing linkage with the Volvo? links. It should not be a big job and as I said earlier, obtain the suggested needles.

Just FYI, the clearance on the underside of the bonnet/hood with the front dashpot cap might be marginal. That has been my experience with the SU H6 carbs. I can close it OK but there's some rubbing, which I have addressed using sundry 'buffer' type setups. You might want to check that out before sending them out, and/or be careful the first time you close the bonnet after installation. Just a thought. Pete

In my opinion doing the work yourself is always the preferred method with our cars. However, there are some jobs that are more sensibly done by a pro, at least in my case.
 
I agree, I just wrote an article for my local clubs newletter about that very thing.

That being said, I don't think I can ever get my SU's looking as good as that guy does with his process!
