I have recently got my hands on a 66 sprite that has been converter, I just question how well. Can anyone give me the key things to look for, or is their a printed outline of how to convert a car from + to - ground somewhere out there? Thanks in advance Mike.

Mike, hello and welcome. For printed advice, I have only seen some in the "Guide to Purchase and Restoration of the MGB", which should be essentially the same procedure. I don't have your e-mail address, so if you want the info, just send me an e-mail and I'll scan the relevant pages and get them off to you in a reply.

Mike,
The conversion from Positive to Negative ground is really very simple to do. Besides switching battery terminals, you also switch the wires on the coil, redo the polarity on the generator and converting the tach. Basicly thats it. Sometimes the heater fan motor requires reversal of it's leads. Everything else remains the same. A written guide for converting can be found at https://www.mgcars.org.uk/midgetspriteclub/sprite/spriteposneg.htm

Thanks to both of you. I guess my main concern was the tach as it is not working at the moment. I plan to strip the dash anyways for a repaint so I will open it up and see if the proper reversal was made, my guess is it has not. Mike
