pos earth GPS

Yes, but you'll still be turning the wrong way. heheheheh.
But seriously.
Directly, NO! Through an inverter, yes. But remember that the old generators don't supply such a constant voltage as do newer systems, and that can sometimes play havoc with touchy electronics.
Also, It's not very hard at all to convert your car over to negative earth.

just run a pair of wires from the battery to a dedicated 12v Neg ground plug , just make sure not to ground it,
10 minute job

Good idea, thanks beaulieu.

I was going to change Ben, but I have a pos grnd Pertronix module that I'm led to believe can't just be run as a neg.
Correct. You'd have to either revert back to points, or buy a correct Pertronix Module.
The direct run to the battery would work, just be sure to fuse the Negative wire, in case it or the accessory port housing ever accidently makes contact with the body.
Also be sure your GPS is fully insulated from the body as well. Any antennas included.

meh.... I can sympathize. An additional black wire to every electrical gizmo aboard. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
