My 4-post lift has wheels I can put on it to move it around in the shop.....then, I set it up wherever & my concrete is only 6" thick all over the garage.

I would say that would never be a problem, even a stationary 4 post on a 4" slab shouldnt be a problem. But when you have a 2 post with a heavy engine side and a light rear side they tend to want to pull forward, hence the be safe and have a footing for it. Especially if you working under it. Again though a midget is more like a go cart. Very light on its feet. I'd never walk under a 2 post lift with a van in it that has no footings.

I like the roll around deal tho!

...I highly doubt a midg will affect it when you put a large vehicle on the lift for the first time a see how offset the weight can be front to back, you begin to wonder

Agreed, Scott. While I will mostly use the lift for maintenance on my Brit cars, I will from time to time also want to put my full size truck (Nissan Titan) on the lift; another reason for going with assymetric lift arms.
