Were a bugger to get out! Only about 1/3 would come out with the drill easily. Fiddled around with the drill, angling it some, got another half that were left out. Finally ground them off with the angle grinder. Good grief.

I don't even want to think about putting them back in!

The fun part comes when you try to find the little holes that were covered over by a skim coat of bondo.
Puttin rivits in is a lot easier than takin em out.

Don't worry about it JB. Putting them back is the easy part if you have a good rivet tool.

Until she nicks the paint! Before you try to put them back on, Janel, tell us so we can help you save your new paint....

...I'm betting the 6th one! No, wait, her arms aren't quite as strong as ours - 4th one!

I saw an air driven pop gun some place, I'm sure that's just the thing for JB. She is really into power tools.

In that case, the first one!

I will NOT nick the paint. That is why I will be doing the pop rivets instead of Chuck. Because if HE nicks the new paint job, I'd have to kill him, and if I don't have a great lawyer, I could end up in jail and then I wouldn't be able to drive any cars. So I do the pop rivets.

What are we betting on, how many rivets I do before I muck up the paint? Oh yea of little faith.

I ground off the rivets that wouldn't come out with the drill and you can't even tell. AND I have all my fingers still, and more importantly, my fingernails!

Janel, we love you! I'm trying to remember a car I've put together where I didn't nick the paint somewhere...it hurts but at least it takes away the fear of the first drive!

Many stories of the same nature. YOU nick it FIRST... that way the next person to do it isn't total dogmeat...

I don't count amputation.

NO NICKS. That's why I don't even want the skin back on the skeleton until it's ALL done. Then we carefully drop the body onto the frame. That works, right? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

NO NICKS. I'll stand next to that car every minute Chuck is working on it to make sure of it. I'm getting sick to my stomach even thinking about him dropping a wrench or something on her.

NO NICKS. John does have a trick for nicks involving paint and a razor blade. I need to have him show me and practice on Chuck's truck.

Yeah, that'll work! hehehehe

That's right. I don't want to be in the house and hear a "OH F*#@(*@#$*#$#@" and be afraid to even go out and see what happened. That would be where I'm praying for blood and severed body parts over a booboo on my (okay fine, OUR) car(s)!

~IF~ I get to Gatlinburg Janel, remind me to tell you the tale of my IMMACULATE Alfa GTV (at the expense of two months' worth of MY life), a grocrey run, an old fool in a Buick and how me Old Fella an' me nearly came to blows...

a tale of treachery, betrayal and anger.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm - gotta work on my humor! Janel, I was trying to be funny & sarcastic - in a nice way!

I knew you were kidding Tony. Why do I feel like Emma's in surgery right now?

ummm...mebbe 'cause she IS?

*gulp*

Yea, she is, isn't she?

Hmm, axe, sawzal, grinder, a bit more oil nurse. Tighten here, hammer, poprivit, ahhhhh, suscess. This was supose to be a V8 right?

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif if only it came back with a Rover V8 installed in a short couple of hours.... heh /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don’t know exactly what it’s called but they do make a tool to help open up the holes after the bondo and paint shrinks them. I used it quite a bit when putting B back together as the paint shop used a lot of clear.

Jaybird I hate to say this but you’re going to get a couple of scratches in the paint putting it back together. The first one really hurts but you will get over it. Budget some extra cash to have them fixed after wards. Make sure you have a lot of masking tape available especially when putting in the headlights (**** that stupid spring) and the wing windows.
