poor throttle response

I have a 72 GT6 that experiences low rpm throttle pick up
once rpm gets up to about 2000 rpm fine but sluggish till
then ignition carbs and advance check out OK- I had a 73 MGB
that did the same only worse is this a pattern to these cars
from the early 70's? It only does this under load. Glenn

Dashpot oil at proper level? (sometimes it is the simple things - we can all hope so anyway)

Too thick oil in the dashpot could also cause this... though it might improve a bit as the engine compartment warms up. I use a heavy oil in the dashpots most of the year but on a cold morning I'll get poor throttle response for the first few miles.

I all ways use transmission fluid in the dashpots maybe that's why the engine is a little temperamental when cold /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Is this a new problem? I find that retarded initial timing causes this. Crank in an extra few degrees and see what happens.
