Poor ol' Diesela!

I'm lucky in that I have free rein at my local parts place. It's now a Napa, but still carries a lot of stuff from the days when it was an independent. I helped start the place up back in '75. So, now I can just go look everything up myself.
I also get the run of the shop area.

Now I see why you aren't anxious to move, Jeff.

Today's paper had another story about the $27 an hour Delphi employees....seems they're now angry because "Delphi doesn't care" since its asked a judge to cancel their union contracts

Delphi doesn't care but the $27/hour factory employees do because they're gonna let the company go belly up rather than compromise!

I think the writing is already on the wall at Delphi... When I read that they were cancelling the union contracts, and cuttin pay from $27/hour to under $16/hour... They're doomed. Bye Bye Delphi.

But, Doc, my chosen destination, (a small town in Northern California,) has a parts store that is much the same. They had a fuel pump for my '65 Sprite on the shelf the last time I needed one. And a set of generator brushes.

Wow... "Realize Your Dream," then!

Got 'em saved with a transparent background... I had to clean up some stuff I missed when they were on a black background, but it works. I can still see several places I missed - but I didn't spend a lot of time on it - a minute or two maybe.

some shadows on the ground under them would help to reduce the appearance of a cut-n-past job... :p 'course that woulda taken a bit more time to do than what you spent on it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif still like the new siggie either way /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I wish I could make money doing this graphics stuff... But the market's saturated with graphic artists, or they want you to already have 5+ years on the job experience with photoshop and 15 other pieces of software. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I printed pamphlets, business cards, and newsletters for while outta the house as extra income, never made much though.

The mouth-breather at Twilight-Zone insisted on typing 61 TR3 into his computer when I walked in looking for Champion plugs.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same thing happened to me a few years ago in one of the local zones. I asked for specific plugs, they asked year make model so I said '72 Triumph TR6. He disappeared into his shelves and when he re-appeared he had four spark plugs. I think I blinked about three times before I asked him where the other two spark plugs were. He asked why I needed six sparkplugs for a 4 cylinder engine. I tried to correct him that a TR6 had six cylinders. He insisted that the computer was right, could not be wrong and that my car had to have been modified. I think it was about two more blinks before I turned, walked out and went down the street to NAPA.

hehehehehehehe Wow some people are idiots.

And I get hammered for callin' 'em "PartzMonkeys"...

Jim has it. Mouth-breathers.

Heh, try finding parts for a '73 Capri, this is usually how
it goes...

"Caprice? yeah we got one of those..."
"No, Capri, you know, the captive import, Mercury Division..."
"Not according to the computer..."
"The computer doesn't have a clue, get the books out..."
"Our books don't go back that far..."
"I'll go to NAPA, Thanks for the entertainment..."
"Huh???"
And off I go to NAPA...

a week ago when I went into advance, the guy I usually do bid'ness wit was busy with a guy buying an entire engine in seperate parts, so I talked to the new guy... Blew his mind when I said 1984... (watching him click the computer) Alfa Romeo... "whoa - that's cool - what's it look like?" <pause by me> Spider... <uh alot like that yellow MGB out there, but faster>... Whoa - dude - you have a MG and a Spider?"... Yeah, I need a fuel filter - got one?...Let see - clickity click click.. I have 4 of em... How bout a rotor and distributor cap?... Clickity clickity... I have 1 cap and 2 rotors... Ok, I'll take the filter, the cap, and both rotors.

..."dude, how many weird cars you got?".... More later than I have now... "wha..." Just get me the parts. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You should go to Advance Auto with me, Kenny!

Steve,

I'd get that with the Consul Capri.

"Chevy Caprice?"
Me - "No,Ford Consul Capri"
"Oh yeah,my Dad had one of those"
Me - "I don't think so"

& then there's always Cortina parts.
"I have alisting for a 1600....'81-86"
Me - "that's the Escort engine"
"I don't show anything else"
Me - "Try Ford Fiesta"
"Oh - here it is"

The only decent foreign parts place went out of business a couple of years ago - they kept raising the rent.
The guy that owned it was cool - he knew a lot about the old cars.

Yeah, My "usual guy" at Advance used to own a garage decades ago, and he knows what I'm talking about most of the time... I appreciate that.
