Unfortunately, that isn't an option with this software (but would be a good suggestion for the developer)

Because the info that is pushed to desktops is only text and is cached, the extra load on the server wouldn't be too great.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I was asking if you'd get less "ad revenue" if people use RSS feeds instead of actually checking the forum for each new post.

If they get forum updates from RSS, then they wouldn't be loading your pages as frequently. So I thought maybe that would in effect "decrease" your ad revenue.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. Not really sure how much impact it would have. People who want to read a post would still need to visit the forum to do so, but it might reduce traffic some.
