Polishing Window Trim

I did a quick search but didn't find much.

Is there an 'easy' way to shine up the aluminum trim around the windshield? -or actually I just want to get some water spots and stains off of the anodized trim, not necessarily make it shine like chrome.

Water spots. Try Bartenders Friend from your grocery store.

Mothers aluminum polish and steel wool, for tough areas the finest grade finish paper then Mother's polish. I know it is not suppose to shine but mine is like a mirror with a little effort. Same process is nice on carbs.

will his take off the anodizing? I'm polishing the bars on my steering wheel - and while they were heavily pitted - I don't want to be too agressive for fear of doing damage - (though I'm not even sure I can do more damage) - what grit is "finest finish paper?"

Lye takes off anodiseing. Something like oven cleaner works real well.

Jack - I don't want to take off the anodizing - that's my concern

Stay away from sandpaper then. You can not do much with bad ansdizing really. A bit of polishing with a chrome polish is about it.
