Polished stainless steel bumpers?

Becomes brittle and cracks around mounting holes.

I love how they say "If the bumpers get dented or scratched they can be beaten back to shape".....better choice "reshaped"?

If these are being made in asia, with other cars I've seen them to be much thinner than originals, where you can grab the ends and twist them. Just something to be aware of and maybe ask the seller.

Feedback is extremely good,
shipped out of Bath, England, not sure of source.
I'll inquire of the seller regarding some of the issues brought up and see what they say

Rechroming hasn't gotten so expensive that it is comparable with that price, has it!??

Kurt.

Rechroming could be a little less expensive depending on how much prep work needed, but not much less. Plus it would be a big hassle, sending parts in, waiting and hoping they come back in a timely manner (or at all), and dealing with often not very helpful folks at the remaining chrome shops.

Repro new would be $676 at VB for these items.

I think stainless sounds really cool, and I do like the idea of fairly easy repair. I wonder how long they hold their polish?

I'll check over at 6 pack too.

Fred

p.s. seller doesn't accept online questions..."too many inquiries"...

If I didn't have any bumpers to rechrome I might consider them, but I really like the look of a good quality rechrome job on originals. All the chrome on my TR4a needs to go to the shop so I'll know the cost sometime this summer (Knox chrome).

I have been aware of these bumper for some time now. Consequently, if the sample original bumper used as a template was in good condition, That is properly shaped and of the correct thickness you could not beat SS it will stay bright and shinny, it will not rust
However if severely damaged it probably would require replacement so do chrome units FWIW

It's been a few years now but here is what I paid for excellent re-chroming at Knox Custom Chrome.

Bumper $180
Front overriders $45 each
Rear overriders (bumperettes) $60 each
Grill $180
E-brake handle $45

I paid $250 for my grill and $75 ea for the rear bumperettes a year or so ago at Knox...grills are now up to $350 or so.

I'm taken a grill and a set of bumperettes to them next week.
