IBM has been trying to do this with patches for 30 years and still can't get it right. Couple of nerds in mom's basement bang out a much better solution, give it away, and TROUNCE $200 million in R&D...

An added benefit is I'm within spittin' distance of the telco switching station: download speed (from an unburdened mirror) seems to be almost ten meg in 25 seconds. NOTHING like what Julian demonstrated from SC06, but respectable enough for $30-per-month -copper-. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
I hear that... pretty dang good for copper.

I'm getting about 5meg outta a cable modem here at Chez Sneddon... It's pretty bad when you've got T1's out the wazoo at work and you get better results at home... Everyone in my town thinks that cable sucks so everyone is on a dish and copper DSL... Leaves all the bandwidth to me...
