Please say it's easy...Dash pad removal

I have a '62 BT-7 and need to replace the top dash pad. Question: Is it necessary to remove the windshield (by that I mean the whole frame; posts and glass, not the actual glass alone, of course) to do a decent job of replacing the dash top? I ask because I thought it'd be an easy job of a few bolts but it looks now like there's at least one hidden/hard-to-reach bolt securing the windshield frame to the shroud, near the middle of the frame. No idea how to get at it without pulling the glass. I must be missing something. Any tips?

Hi, Not familiar with that model. However, Generally it is "easy", you do not have to remove the wind screen to remove the dash top. First free the mirror and then see if a couple of clips at each end of the pad underneath do not free it the rest of the way.--Fwiw--Keoke??

In my 60 BT7 to remove the complete windshield is as easy as to remove 3 bolts and nuts in each side. 2 are under the dash and one on top of the frame. With this you will remove windshield and frame.
To remove the top dash, unscrew the mirror and several screws in the top dahs edge sucuring it to the shroud.

Ummmm, I would've thought all the six (6) cylinder roadsters were the same...

My 100/6 has four (4) fasteners per side; the one (1) visible on top of the cowl, one (1) 5/16" bolt threaded directly into the sidepost (highest under the dash) and two (2) 1/4" bolts secured with nuts.

But in any case, the dashtop pad can be removed without disturbing the windshield.

That´s rigth. You d´ont need to remove the windshield to remove the dash pad.
