Was watching TV after quitting work for the day, I'm a WFH type anymore, when I heard a knock at the door. Got up to answer and found two young boys there, they were probably about 12-13. Anyway, they were starting a summer lawn mowing service and wanted to know if I was interested in have them do mine. I politely declined as I can use the exercise myself, but I did commend them for getting out there and wished them success. That's the first time in a long time I've had kids show up at the door looking for any type of work. Hope it carries into being adults someday and makes them pursue higher rungs on the ladder of life as the age.

Please send them to eastern Connecticut! I haven't seen young folk willing to do outdoor work for others in many years - I probably would have hired them immediately, just to reward their ambition and willingness.

There are still plenty of older folks in the neighborhood, 60s and up, not to mention quite a few that use mowing services so I think if they're serious they'll find enough to do this summer. If I wasn't sitting on my behind all day at my desk I might have let them since they only wanted $10 a mow, my lot is only 100x70ft and the house takes up half.

But, you would have more time for the hobby, and the boys would make $10. No more find gas, sharpen blade, get the mower out in hot weather, clean the mower and change oil. Pretty much a no brainer for $10.
