Plastic fill plugs?!

I need a new thermostat fill plug. Getting tired of the black iron pipe plug with which the DPO has graced me, and the accompanying fine mist of antifreeze under the hood. The Usual Sources list a plastic plug as a replacement. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm no engineer, but plastic threads against metal and really hot liquid sounds, well, odd to me.

Anyone still carry the brass plugs for something less than an arm and a leg?

Moss Europe had the plug last year- at least for the 1275 engine. I imagine they would still have it.

Good luck.
