On my XK 140, it was easier to pull the piston and have a professional come to my house and re-bore a match to new pistons. It was done with the engine in the car and only the head and crank removed. Fit new bearing for no apparent reason except I was there already. Get it done and forget it. Not all that expensive in the long run. Not a lot of work for me. (I lived in Santa Monica at the time so I had a choice of machinists willing and wanting to come to my house, I doubt I'd be so lucky up here)
