Piston Coating

I'm on the fence. I'm rebuilding my BJ8 engine and was wondering if anyone out there has had their pistons coated (skirt & top). Looking for some feed back as to advantages or ??

Thanks in advance,

Jim

I have not had pistons done but I have my bearing shells coated by this company - my engine machinist recommended them about 10 years ago and I was shocked at the condition of the bearing shells after a few seasons of racing (they still looked new). I had another set done for my current street motor and I found them to be a wealth of info as well as doing great work. I suggest talking to them about your situation, they have been around for a long time and were pioneers of the coating industry.

I had it done to my 1380 mini motor and the pistons still look like new. Carbon does not stick to the coating. I no longer have the name of the company that did the coating.
