I am going to replace my front brake parts on my '62 948 Midget. I have all new shoes and wheel cylinders. The only concern I have is the pipe that goes between the wheel cylinders on the rear of the backing plate. It has been awhile since I replaced the wheel cylinders. The previous work was rebuilding the wheel cylinders and they were not removed from the car. I do plan to clean the crud off the rear of the backing plate and apply liquid wrench or whatever brand I have to the bolts and the fittings for the pipe a day or so in advance and letting it soak in.
The question I have is, what do I do if I can't get the pipe off without destroying it? I have looked at Moss and other suppliers, and no one seems to have the pipe in stock anymore. I am hoping there is enough oil or grease on the fittings that they didn't corrode to the wheel cylinder. I appreciate greatly any advice from my fellow Spridget owners.
