Good morning folks.

I've been looking for the Piggott Original Triumph TR2/3/3A. ISBN 1901432033. New copies ($35) are on backorder for several months, with no expected delivery date.

And used copies run for ... are you ready ... $250 on various used book sites (when you can find a site with that book). Lots of copies of the TR4 and later, but none with TR2/3.

I've tried Powells, Alibris, ebay, amazon, etc.

Does anyone know a source for this book?

Thanks.
Tom

Tom -

Have you checked with the Little British Car Co.? They might have one.

I have a copy. Hmmmm... $250?

NAAAHHH!

I thought that the TR Register or Sports Six Club would have a copy for sale here in the UK, but they are both sold out. I checked Amazon UK. They want ÂŁ207 for a used copy - that's about $400. I might be tempted to sell for that!
I know that Bill's new book TR2/3 in Detail is about to be published. That may do you instead.

SHEESH!

The sound you're hearing may be my mind changing!

Hmmm - anybody know the differences in these books? I'm looking for source material on putting the TR3A back to it's 1959 "build" as close as possible.

Piggott: Original Triumph TR2/3/3A

Piggott: Triumph TR2/3/3A in Detail

Piggott: Original Triumph Tr: The Restorer's Guide to TR2, TR3, TR3A, TR4, TR4A, TR5, TR250, TR6

Piggott: Triumph Tr2/3/3A: Super Profile

Several to choose from ... but don't know which one is the "bible" for restoration.

And my innate paranoia leads me to wonder ... are these four books just period recycling of the same info, adding a flashy new cover and some new pics?

Tom -

I have both Original TR2/3/3A/4/4A (etc.) and Original TR2/3 . There is definitely more detail in the latter book.

I'm not familiar with the others, but can't imagine how they could trump the above.

If you join TRA, you can purchase the Judging Standards & Restoration Guidelines book. It should help you a lot in reaching your goal.

One was on ebay a few months ago...it didn't have any bids at $250...relisted at $200 (no bids)...then at $175 (no bids).

I emailed the seller and offered $150.00 and she accepted BUT I got cold feet and I let her sell it to another buyer...

Signed or unsigned?

Twosheds: if I get the Piggott for $35 and sign it, will you buy it from me for $400?

Ummmm... NO!

I was thinking you would buy my signed copy for $400.

I think the original Original hardcover book went out of press. Then the prices began to rise and rise. The new Original books are now softcover, and normal priced.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the reason for the (inflated) price. People want a hardcover coffee table book and demand dictates the price.

OK, I've got my hard cover copy in my hand. What'll I start the bidding at?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I've got a friend with a used book store. I may just give him a call tomorrow.

Sheesh.. And I've been thinking I'd like to get a copy of that book...
I have the "how to restore a Tr2-3" currently offered by Moss. It's informative, and fairly thorough, but leaves a lot to be desired in the department of details.. And I've noticed a few incorrect statements.
It's a good book, and is a valuable refrence, but, I'd stick with trying to find one of the Piggot books.

I ordered one recently from Amazon, and I think the current story is even the soft cover version is not readily available. If it can't be purchased at a typical book rate, I'll pass - I'd rather put the $200+ towards an actual TR3 and then make my own book.
