MGB-GT Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with it

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Were it me, I'd get new rubber under it like Jack said...then, get the mechanics tiptop & replace that hood just for looks...drive it & sort it out & then do the body over the winter.

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Thanks for the rundown Tony, I love a simple plan!

Great advice, if the weather permits I'll pretty up the front this weekend and get the tires on Monday. I'll also see about the clutch hydraulics this weekend if there's any break in the rain.

I'm way too wimpy to bleed a clutch on wet pavement /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Back when I owned my first GT ('69 primrose baby) I was in my early 20's. I'd spend all night out there under it if something wasn't right. Now that 50 is looming a lot closer I like to think I've grown a bit wiser, but it's probably just the knowledge that the time it takes to recuperate has increased by many times what it was when I was 20.

1. remove front fender
2. Cut dogleg to reveal back of rocker

4. weld new rocker in place
5. Weld new dogleg in place
6. Install front fender
7. Paint car

....that's it down & dirty! [/QUOTE]

different for a roadster right? You need to suppor the car and weld a cross brace across the door. I'd love to to my Roadstaer but that's time consuming stuff init?

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

If its just the rockers (& you don't know that until you get under it with an ice pick or screwdriver & hammer), I would just support it & whack...for most of the work, the door & GT's overall structure will suffice for strength - however, each car is a different entity......remember: rockers are only a small part of the overall strength of the car.

But, that's just my opinion & I really don't mess with rust like some of you other guys who might provide better ideas.

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

That's the way I'm leaning. I might have it done unless there is someone on the Forun that is near me that wants to come over learn me how to do it . It might be a little deeper than the outer rocker but from what I can see not much more. Dog legs too. Any takers? I've got all the tools for the job, I just need a little push!!

Oh and that was your 15,000th post. Holy cow! Do you get to be called something different now? Big Kahuna or something?

I got a 42. Did I just find the Ultimate Question?

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Perhaps it was just a Deep Thought....

A Dent.

You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.

Camshaft, what is 6 times 8?
Hmmm... so that's what is fundamentally wrong with the universe.

This is very funny, because my job is in IT and I have a side business that in Internet centered and I have an always connected home network and I carry an always connected pocket PC.

I think I score low because my fantasies are of time spent away from the net (which to me symbolizes work), instead of more time with it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
