In this post we will see some of the goodies that came with the car.

First, box #1 - hmmm... what do we have here?

Ok, moving on to the other goodies...

I haven't done anything but open this up & take a picture, who knows what goodness lurks inside?

I got two of these Rocker / Dogleg pieces - one for each side.

A new hood, The PO already had it painted:

Now I have two new windshields, he said the seals are in one of the boxes:

On to the car itself, first the outside:

Passenger side is pretty clean & straight:

Driver side needs work:

Back not too bad:

See why he had the new hood?

Looks really good from the pictures, Rick. Nice find!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Good stuff Rick....!
So what are you going to do with that knock off wrench? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
You got a DGV and a new grille.... $800 you say? Great deal sir.
Keep them pics coming, I want to see what a road worthy 70 BGT looks like.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

I seriously drove this baby home via I-90. Only about 20 miles.

I was hoping I wouldn't see the police (or they wouldn't see me) as it hadn't been registered since 1995.
One Trooper did get on the freeway right beside me but I slowed and he went ahead.

Now the paperwork is all done & I have my temporary license for it. I could drive it to work, but it really does need new tires.

Oh, I do have wires on one of my other MG's. So another knock off wrench can always come in handy!

What DGV?

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

What a deal.

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Yes Jack - this is the second time in a week I have not even bothered offering less for a car.

First our Sedona minivan, a 2003 that's been well taken care of, and now this GT.

Just a simple matter of giving them both the money they asked knowing I was getting a great deal.

Baz: I haven't even seen what all is in the boxes!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Nice score. Love that grille.

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

I'll bet the NOS parts alone would have cost me the $800 - it seems he was throwing the car in for free /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

What's the cost for:
New set of rockers?
New windshield?
New Grille?
New hood?
All the unknown stuff in the boxes?

Yes, you don't come across this every day!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

TREASURE TROVE!!! You pulled a "Tony"!!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Oh, that's praise indeed - thank you sir!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

BAP GEON carb kit is a service kit for two SU's, methinks.

Rick, the HOOD is an item worth over the $800. A NOS grille has got to be $400-worth, the parts in that box look to be from a time when they WEREN'T made in mud huts in third world countries... VERY good purchase. Brake pads, headlight bucket, throttle cable... all appear to be "last generation" aftermarket replacement bits.

Ya done good, boy. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Surely is nice to see someone get the good side of a deal for a change.

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

Yes, I took a minute to look through the big box and found the parts mentioned. Along with a few other bits & pieces. Very sweet. I'll have to look through another box tonight.

Next I'll get some new tires on her and start bolting on the new parts. Sounds like a weekend thing, weather permitting.

Anyone know of a tutorial for replacing a rocker panel?

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]Anyone know of a tutorial for replacing a rocker panel? [/QUOTE]
1. remove front fender
2. Cut dogleg to reveal back of rocker
3. Cut welds holding rocker in place
4. weld new rocker in place
5. Weld new dogleg in place
6. Install front fender
7. Paint car

....that's it down & dirty!

Re: Pics of my '70 GT & the 'stuff' that came with

I'd say you're on your way! Just don't drive it any more on those old bladders. Too old for anything but rolling it about in the yard, IMO.
