A patient this morning shared this story with me about her deceased mother. The old gal was on her last leg and her three daughters thought it appropriate to discuss with their beloved mother what dress she wanted to be buried in. The old gal told them she wanted to be laid out in her old, plain gray dress with the yellow flowers. All her daughters said the same thing, "Mom, that dress is old and worn out." They each picked a fine dress from her closet but the old woman insisted on her choice, the gray dress. The eldest daughter asked her why she wanted such a simple house dress for her wake. To which the old gal replied, "It's comfortable!" She passed a few days later and was laid out in her gray dress. They said that she was beautiful.
 
To add to this story line, our local pediatrician died after a long, fulfilled life a few years ago. One of his sons is a good friend of mine. He came in from out of state for his pops funeral and brought with him a brand new $2000 dress suit to wear to the service. He and his wife stayed at their dads house to comfort the mother. Hung his new, never worn suit in the closet and the next day (you know where this is going) went to the funeral only to find his dad laid out in his brand new, now-worn $2000 dress suit. His mom thought it was her husbands. What are you going to do......

One guy I knew here always said he'd only be caught dead wearin' a pink shirt... sho' 'nuff, laid out in one. His choice, a last joke for the benefit of the friends who attended. Hard to laugh and cry at the same time, it induces a small seizure of madness.

I don't know who she is but it sounds hot.
 
She was a pretty darn good driver in the 50-60's. And not a bad looker, either.

H Production National Champ in '60. In a Bugeye. Also had a TR3, MGB, Corvette, Corvair... all pink.

I've saved about 50 of those little black film containers (the ones that 35mm come in) and told my boys that when I die I want to be cremated and my remains put into those little plastic containers. Then they are to dump me in fifty different places that they visit or find cool. They can send some here: Great barrier reef
or how about around the roots of a great sequoia. Maybe a little in the Rocky Mountains, the Smoky mountains and of course the Ozarks and Ouachitas. Stonehenge, Trevi fountain in Rome. They could even send some to this guy: Life Gems
