Pic,

Jack, that was insanely quick! All I did this weekend was change my head gasket (and get the water out of my oil!). I did other things too, but that was the extent of my car-stuff.

Gesh if I had the the parts you would see quick. I ran out of parts to go further, screwed up the order and did not know I needed one. Hehe

I had almost forgoten how much I enjoyed this building stuff.

I'm slowly amassing the bits for a good strong Lotus TC rebuild, Jack. And I've a 2L Alfa mill sittin' here, a 1600 Alfa and a few other Lotus TC's along with another B engine...

If you 'need' more practice, we could make it a "marathon" session! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

But Doc, I don't do marathon sessions. These things just go together so nice it's like they do it themselves.Remember way back when I said get everything ready, all the parts, all the bits cleaned and restored then have at it. That's the way to go. You got those engines striped and the parts ready to assemble? Dosn't take long when everything is like new.

I hear ya. I could likely have a B engine together in a couple of hours, tops. T/C's take a bit more "messin'" but not much.

Not nearly ready yet, but that'd be about the only way I'd ever do one. All cleaned and ready for assembly. The Alfa engines are the most "fussy" of the bunch: Wet liners. Some gymnastics required to get the flywheel up. Everything's alloy. They make such neat sounds too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmm, three or four engines to do. Hmm, sounds like a party to me.

Well, THAT was my original intent! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Jack, your engine looks good. I made a little progess as well this weekend:

I need to make some oil galley plugs today so I can get the front and rear engine plates on. It will come together this week when time allows.

Nice indeedie. I need to make a few gaskets.

Jack
Since you bored it .060 over I hope that you are going to use a -206 or -295 (1098) head on it. .060 over is 1098 bore. It will rev really well with these.
Bill

Billm, welcome

I have tried to convince Jack to do this on many many ocassions.

He wants this to be all original on the outside. Also, he has stated, that when this is finished, he will make a little get up and go engine for her.

When this is all done, up and running next trick will be a fully stoked 1297. These little engines are fun to build and cheep as well. I will get some advise first, something street driveable but about twice the HP. Just under 100 I should think. Will be fun ordering the parts, etc. Everyone has to have a follow on project.

Is there a reference page someplace with the different heads and what the numbers are, etc etc.

Jack, David Vizards book, "Tuning BL's A Series Engine" is the bible for engine building. It has information on all of the heads, rods, blocks, pistons, and just about everything else you'll need.
Jeff

Good deal, will put the arm out for one of these.

Thanks guys, appreciate.

Jack
