i really liked the re-enactment shots, as well as the pic of the ship out in the bay.
(Reminded me of my dad, who was a Destroyer escort AA gunner, torpedoeman during II)

that ship looks like a DE class, though I didn't think they were still in use.

Well, I know I can't answer that because these are the only pelicans I've ever seen up close like this.

I can tell you how they are similar, neither frequents Oklahoma.
 
Walt, we get a pretty good flock of brown pelicans right here on lake Hefner (1 mile from my home) for several days about this time every year. Quite a sight for sure.

Ummmm... the brown pelicans (state bird of Louisiana, by the way) are brown and those aren't? :devilgrin:
 
Bayless, that's pretty cool. I stand corrected about the pelicans, around here we only get seagulls and herons. If I were a better photographer I'd get some pictures of the blue herons we have they are pretty birds in flight.
 
Some nice photos, my favourite is the pelican with the downtown buildings in the background...
 
Pacific Brown Pelicans have red underside of bill/pouch. Atlantic pelicans have brown or blackish. Sibley bird book shows the difference. We had a White pelican here in CT this summer. Almost a first.
