Phew! That was close!!

I have been on a flight like that,without the wingstrike.
We had flown through a storm and landed in Wellington,NZ with the wind howling.It's the only time I have heard spontaneous applause for a pilot break out.

I think those people in Hamburg will have gone to their loved ones and hugged them silly.

That pilot had a cool hand to keep it under control and decide to go around. Glad I wasn't a passenger on that flight, I think I would have been losing my cookies.
 
I think the inflight meal was crab.

I heard that the C-5s don't use the crosswind gear anymore. I was surprised; always thought that was a cool idea. I guess that there are enough runways pointing into the wind so it's unneccessary.
