Phase 1 or 2

" One method" is to look at the chassis rails at the rear axel. If they are routed down under the axel instead of being straight it is a phase 2.
 
Phase 1 has glass, single beehive directional lights in front. If it was built after April of 64, it is a phase 2. Behind the rear axle there will be a pan hard rod transverse across the car on a phase 1. The tires will be centered in the wheel wells on a phase 1 and below center in the phase 2 (thanks to Ralph Nader). You can also match the last five number on the vin to any books or web sights. Only 1400+ phase 1's were made and only about 850 were imported to the US. Mine was built in Nov 63. I think your Oct 64 puts you into Phase 2.
