I am in the process of reproducing some car emblems and was wondering if anyone knows of someone that can chrome plate pewter?

The chrome plate company we use in England said that they do not plate pewter. I will check with some local companies here in the US.

Why use Pewter? Being a fairly soft material it might flex easily and crack any plating. Since platers stand behind their process, that might be the reason it's hard to find one who will do it. PJ

The reason I am using pewter is that I can cast it myself in a silicone mold that i made form an original emblem. I have sent my emblem to three companies that use sand casting or the lost wax casting with no luck in making any usable parts. With only 73 cars that are known to use this emblem it is a very small quantity that need to be made.

I have received my sample badge back from having it chrome plated and add the red epoxy paint. I am happy to report that casting these badges from pewter turned out better than I could have hoped for.

looks great!

Thanks guys. Steve, I must think that the H&G badge brings back some memories for your Father. Tell him that I am going over to the UK in September to meet John Meadows and attend the National Micro Car Show. I am still planning on attending the Milwaukee Masterpiece on August 23 with our Frisky! Hope you can attend!

The first sample badge has been fitted to its car in The West Midlands United Kingdom.
