Petrol Stop Tap on post 60000 TR #

I bow before the Boffin. You have pointed out the danger of a applying only a little knowledge to the problem. Now you know why I studied management instead of electrical engineering.

That's Chief Boffin if you please.

So lets follow this up to a guy who has enough electrical knowledge just to be dangerous.
I need to run a seperate feed to the valve from the power source than just run one to the valve and then from there to the pump?

Think of an upside down Y. The main feed is the trunk, the bottom of the Y. Each supply line off the Y is going to a "user" which is what the electrical schools called it.

As long as that junction of the Y is before the first user you are ok. Doesn't need to be all the way back at the fuse box, can be just before the first user, just needs to be separate.

Take a testlight/voltmeter and you need to measure voltage at each user, with the other one disconnected.

So you can run a 14 gauge wire from the fuse box/ignition switch/toggle switch, wherever your supply is down to the area of the users. Then a junction of 14 or 16 gauge wire to each user...

Examine the taillight(or headlight, or sidemarker light wiring). Power from supply to each user, but usually branched off just ahead of the first user...

Right. You can run one wire from the power source, to either pump or solenoid, then another wire from there to the other item.

And should you be interested in a little extra security, that wire could also go through a key switch mounted in an out of the way place.

Now Im still confused. Ron says make a "Y" and branch off before and Randall says go from one toanother.

Randall ,have that all ready. The pump goes thru a rocker switch and the main power for the whole car runs thru a hidden switch.

Either one will work. From an electrical point of view, they are the same.
