Hello Everyone -

I have an issue with my fuel system and I hope someone can give me some assistance.

As I switch on the ignition on my BJ8, the fuel pump speeds up after it slows down, prior to ignition. I noticed that fuel is streaming out of the petrol drain off the intake manifold.

What can be the cause of this?

Well that is the purpose of the drain tubes. However, The floats in the carburetors may not be set correctly or the choke may be allowing too much fuel to be deliverd during starting.Just some initial thoughts ---Keoke
 
I suggest either a stuck bowl float or float valve, or a blocked bowl vent (which I have had my own experience with). Try tapping on both carb bowls with a soft mallet. Although that is not a permanent fix it might free something sticking and allow the bowl float to rise and shut off the jet. If that does fix things I assure you it is only temporary. Dont whack, just tap. Fuel is not being shut off by the float valve and it is running into the intake manifold and out the drain. Don't drive, in fact don't run the engine, until you figure it out.
