Ok it ain’t my style but I’ve seen a lot of wannabe ganstas take extreme liberties with the basic designs. Some more are ok (not my cup’a Joe) but many exceed the boundaries of all good taste and decorum.

I don’t know who thunk that put’n the front grill off’n a POS Lincoln Continental on a new Chrysler 300 – but that individual needs to be taken out in the parking lot and have about 230grs placed between his headlights to keep them from ever again tainting our roadways with such an abomination to man & nature.

Ok I feel better.

Anybody got any automotive "fashion don't" they'd like to share?

People do things just to be different rather than because it truly looks good. It used to bother me but now I figure at least they're trying to do something different instead of driving a cookie cutter vehicle. The only changes that really bugs me are those that make the car perform worse or less safe, especially when the owner thinks otherwise... which is most of the time. 24" wheels with 20-profile tires will kill the handling and ride of pretty much any street car.

Yes like I said I don't mind grills swaps or replacement inserts on most vehicles. But the old Lincoln grill work just totally throws off the whole front end for me. Now I'm not a huge fan of the Chrysler 300 - it is what it is.

Another one that kind of annoys me is when people go out and buy a new H2 Hummer one of the best off the shelf off road vehicles you can currently buy and they'll throw a set of 24" with low profile tires on it.

Cosmetically I don’t usually fettle with the overall design of a vehicle too much and normally prefer to speed my money on stuff not normally visible to the casual observer. To look at my Supercrew 4x4 it looks pretty stock. I mean it's not lifted and is still running the factory wheels & orignal do-dads it left the dealer lot with when brand new in 2001. It's until you hear it start up or look under the hood that you realize it's seen some "tinkering". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'm not a pro at this but it looks photoshopped.

I drive a clapped out, rusty, thirty-year old Eye-tie lump.

I have NO room to judge what peeps choose to do with cars they owe the bank for. AFAIC it looks just as hateful with th' grille mod as it did from the showroom floor. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

...but it keeps th' economy goin'. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

It's just the way of the dorks saying
"Look at me....I've got too much money,
& way too much time on my hands".

Donks, Bubbles, flatus cannons, neon, wings on front wheel drive cars, and body kits for economy cars. Also anytime you see a car where the owner cleaned out all the shiny parts from pepboys on it.

One day I'm going to have to get a picture of the bubble in the apartment building next door as its the funniest thing I have ever seen. Nothing like 4 door sedan thats lifted to the moon to fit the wagon wheels.

And how about a chain-link steering wheel that is 8 inches in diameter! Does wonders for control!

"Easy-Grip" wheel. Just don't get yer pinky fingers inna holes..

Or use it in the summer or the winter.......
I've got a chain link wheel someone gave to me..... Looks good on the wall of the shop. And that's where it's gonna stay!
Our "Fridge" has some custom graphics down the sides, but only because they were there when we bought it. I've never been big on most mods. especially performance detracting cosmetics.

I like it when they put the decal across the top of the
windshield that says something like:

"Really Expensive Stereo Inside!"

.... And then they can't figure out why someone
broke into their car.

I was just thinking of the movie "Cars" when the big
wings were mentioned.

One mod I'm glad I don't see anymore- putting a tire on a rim that is 3"-5" too wide. "What the!? You PAID to have that done?"

Accident report:

"The driver lost control when his 'bling' became entangled in the steering wheel as he was making a turn. Subsequent strangulation resulted from apparent panic. Impact with a nearby tree was responsible for the passenger's fatal injuries."

I got passed by a late model Chevrolet Monte Carlo today with a flatus can. No other rice involved, just a flatus can... Attached to a V6. Made me wonder if the owner also had a turbocharged Yugo. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
