I was present at the NORAD SAGE (Air Defense) blockhouse the night this happened. There was definitely something there but I have never heard any explanation. I remember seeing these "unknowns" on our scopes doing impossible maneuvers (like changing direction 180 degrees without slowing down - like a ball bouncing off a wall) and the pilots telling the controllers that the objects would "wink out" when they got close to them. I'm not making any proclamations about what this was, but it did happen - I was there.
