Pertronix = greater spark plug gap?

I still have points but I'm pretty sure you should be running at least 30 thou gap on the plugs with the Pertonix, maybe a bit more.

Hi Skip, this will depend on the type spark plug you are using, the compression ratio of the engine and whether you also included an aftermarket coil [Pertronix/Lucas Sport] along with the Pert module. As a general rule with a high compression engine and a high out put coil you can increase the point gap to about 0.035". For a stock coil I would not exceed 0.030" gap. However, in this latter case a stock point setting will be OK too.--Fwiw--Keoke
 
You can use a BOSCH Super 4 spark plug (WR 78). They are quite good and most engines run smoother.

Wide gap....smooth idle.
Closer gap....better for high speed w/ stock coil.

The Pertronix actually doesn't increase your firing voltage at the plugs...it justs eliminates the adjusting of the point gap.
