Pertonix ignition different spark plugs?

Hello all,

My car is still positive, 64 BJ8. Points changed out to Pertonix ignition. Coil is Lucas sports. I'm about to install a new set of spark plug wires. Two questions:

1. What is the correct end cap that goes over the spark plugs? Right angle or straight.

2. What is the recommended spark plug to use in my situation now? And what gap for that spark plug.

Currently I have Champion UN12Y.

Currently I am having my tachometer modified because of the Pertonix. If it affects that, are the Champion UN12Y's still the right plugs for me?

Roger,
1- BJ8's originally had right angle end caps. BJ7's had straight caps.

2- The original plug was Champion UN12Y. The modern equivalent would be N12YC. Some folks use the NGK equivalent BP6EV.

If for some reason you might be running the car hard, a colder plug such as Champion B9YC or NGK BP7EV might be in order.

I would not exceed 0.032" plug gap. The rotors can have problems with insulation failure & increasing the plug gap just makes this problem greater.

I don't think the Pertronix will have any affect on the plug used.
