Personalized/Vanity Plates

Not very creative but mine on the B is a Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation plate that just says MYMG. Those plates are limited to four characters. We all have seen some really creative ones, but one of my favorites was DA BENZ. Kind of silly throwing away $80 a year on a license plate but what the heck, you can't take it with you and the kids won't appreciate it if you leave it to them. Jack

On my 78 MGB I have an Illinois tag, "MOWOG 1"

On my '69 MGC, I have Illinois tag "MGC 6165" (its car number).

I have a random Illinois tag on the '68 MGC, and the 74.5 B/GT V8 has yet to be registered and licensed in the state.

On my 300ZX, I have "RX ONLY" (I'm a pharmacist).

My plate is a standard PA Antique Plate "68RX"...and I get asked all the time if it is a 1968 year or if I am a pharmacist.

And yes, I did ask the woman at the BMV if I could have the next plate in the box instead, but she said no /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

Worse yet, the new Pa. antique plates have a pic. of some dumb truck looking thing.

(I think I posted this previously)

There's a guy in our car club who has the tag "GT" on his MG. The only problem is that the car is a roadster. I scratched my head for a few moments until I realised that "GT" are his initials!

My wife's Stag actually has TWO vanity plates on it: On the front is a Tennessee plate that reads 'STAG' and on the rear is an Arkansas plate that reads '73 STAG' Yet with those and the Stag emblems on both quarter panels she still gets asked "Is that a Jag?" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

BTW: Bret, wat is the meaning behind "Pagan B"?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry no short answer..

Well PAGAN has a lot of meanings for me personally. But the B itself isn’t exactly what I’d call your run of the mill Rubber Bumper in that I’ve shunned the common held notions of what some purists feel my B should be. It all really came about a number of years ago when I over heard a rather stuffy Chrome Bumper B owner telling his friend how much he hated those Rubber Bumper Bs and then as they walked up to my car - turned around & said ("to my face") that I’d devalued my B by making the changes I’ve made. What a hypocrite! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Anyway because of that little encounter I’ve decided to embrace the idea of nonconformity and like the polytheistic religions of old, believe there is more than one way to do something. So because of that I guess my B is a bit of a heathen & a barbarian, hence - PAGAN. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So while many enjoy it and think it’s cool – my personalized license plate is really kind of a subtle way of thumbing my nose at those who hate Rubber Bumper Bs in the first place and those detractors who criticize her originality.

I've got "UCSB Dad" ready for my '64 MGB. My daughter is a freshmen at Univercity of California, Santa Barbara. I guess it's another way of saying "Proud Dad."

The plates on my MGB end with 356B - I thought it would be cool to transfer them to an early porsche... if I had one.

My old friend, Ed Hertfelder (from Cycle Magazine) had "Poetic" on his NJ license plate.

1974 Georga plate hanging in Garage, BUGAYE. I know Bugeye was not available.

I have several (Georgia tags). On my 73 Midget I have: 73 MG (photo at https://www.raysmg.com/Web%20Images/Edited/MG/082004/tag.jpg ); on the 66 Midget I just sold I had: MIDGET (photo at https://www.raysmg.com/Web%20Images/Edited/66%20Midget/P1010005web.jpg ); on the 60 TR3 I have: 60 TR3A (no photo yet...just got the tag). I live in a college town (UGA...Go Dogs...sic em...woof woof), one of the best tags I have seen was on the back of a young guys car: ICUQT ( I see you cutie).

(the photos were too large to post to the forum)

A boring MGB75 on Emma, BINABOX on Binabox.

I've got 5DOM524 on mine. I don't know what it means yet, but I'll figure out something. I've got a feeling it will end up with something to do with leather, but I'm a little scared of what.
