I consider it good for those areas. Some people say that it hardens over time. However, I have never experienced that.
Hylomar is also good for those joints. If you want to save some money over Hylomar, Permatex makes a Hylomar Blue copy, Permatex 85420 (Permashield). I have used that on oil pans and timing covers.
