Just read an article in the local paper about one of our local residents, upon shopping at the new Co-Op store here in Eureka, noticed the lobster tank.
As his cat had died recently,he felt that he had to do something.
He started by protesting outside of the store, then he purchased 2 of them ($20 each - + a 10 % discount).
He then contacted his Brother, who lives in Boston.
He's now going to FedEx them to his Brother, who will then drive them up to the Maine Coast,& release them back into the Atlantic Ocean.
Meanwhile, the Co-Op has ordered more lobsters.
And I thought that I had no life!

Soft crabs and green tails here.

Hmmmm, crabs. Yep it's about time here for crabs. Been too long.

Well, at least he didn't do like the lady who wanted to liberate one....bought it out of the aquarium in restaurant & released in it a local fresh water lake....imagine that thing suffocating to death - long, slow, torturous death.

Every couple of years some celebrity type brings a few lobsters here or to New Hampshire and releases them with great fanfare.

We have a long standing hunting & fishing culture here and folks just can't understand how the same people often sit down to enjoy a good steak or seafood supper yet don't see a problem with that.

Whole Foods recently opened a store in Maine and, about a month later, announced that they would no longer carry lobsters in any of their stores. I guess the beasts were too scarey.

I wonder what that guy fed his cat. Tofu?

Do you think they'll get caught again?

I wonder, is there such a thing as "farmed" lobsters?

I'd love to be on the beach waiting with a net for when they were released. - Yummy!!!!!

I'm announcing the opening of a Lobster sanctuary* in the beach town of Brandon, Florida...right off the Gulf coast. I promise to screen all eligible lobsters before releasing them into the nearby waterways.

*ample supply of hot butter and lemon AND wax paper bibs...it's time to do the "LOBSTA RAP"

...not to worry: I'm SURE he'll be along directly with another stab at the Elan... admittedly it's not up to outrunning a lobster wot's not "in th' pink" just now, so-to-speak... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
