People, Hard To Figure Some Out!

Recently I purchased some MG parts from a dealer in the UK. Because the UK has a VAT tax and their prices were listed in pounds, I called them to see if the VAT was charged to a US buyer and if I need to convert the price to US dollars? They told me we pay no VAT and when ordering with a US address, the VAT will be dropped, also the prices listed is are exactly what we pay in dollars and no conversion is needed. I ordered the parts at the listed prices and was charged no VAT! My invoice was in dollars with the $ symbol. Even with $16.75 shipping, I saved $40.00 over the normal dealers we use here.
Now, trying to be helpful and save a fellow on another forum a few bucks, I gave him the Brit dealers price for a part he needed and the prices he sees will be in pounds, but we pay the same figure in dollars. I was told in not so many words, I don't know what I'm talking about! I was told those figures have to be converted to pounds and he's not paying those prices! I could have saved him over $50.00 if he listened to me, but, even trying to explain how it's done, he knew more than I did. So, from now on, I offer no more suggestions on how to save money. Anyone wants to pay a premium price, have at it. Shame some people think your dumb as an a_s. PJ

No argument there! Egos are often invincible. "I don't care about facts and logic! I know what I know!"

Well, in his defense, you have to admit that particular situation is the exception not the rule.
