who has rebuild the peddle box in their tr6 I pulled mine out and the shaft is 625 od and the peddle id's are .725 not exactly std bores. were there bushings in there or am I going to have to buy bronze and have them machined

I bought a spare to rebuild one day and it's been sitting for a year, but I'd like to know as well, so I look forward to hearing what it needs to do this job.

5/8's and 3/4's

Any of the suppliers can provide the bushings for the brake and clutch pedal. The shafts are no longer available, but can be easily fabricated. Also not available are the two spring washers.

the box is finished and reinstalled, after driving around in the 4 runner that is, looking for bronze bushings I found them at Little Hardware in Charlotte NC, Grainger was going to have to order them, I also found them at Lowes of all places, 625 ID x 750 OD,x 1 inch long the ID of the tubes on the peddles was .725 so some grinding was in order to increase the ID to press the bushings in. If I were to do it again I would have gone by WT tool and bought a reamer and reamed the peddle tubes out but any way a few hours of grinding and in the bushes went and NO play at all between the peddle shaft and peddles, and since the clutch peddle hole where the pin goes was wallowed out I welded it up and redrilled the hole so no play there either I love it when it comes together

sorry no pics, I should get better at that

so the next step, I made a longer clutch push rod, about 1 inch longer, and yes the TW were replaced last year, and checked dont have the dreaded fork pin problem, the clutch disc is probably going but with the addition of one inch in length the clutch releases at about a little less than have way depressed

happy happy

for now

Next time you, or a friend, is searching for a longer clutch master push rod, head for the wrecking yard. Honda Accord, Toyota's and Nissans of the 80's through the mid 90's use an adjustable push rod that fits right in...
