PCV Valve question

Apparently my PCV Valve was removed from my 1275 A engine on my 58 Bugeye long before I got her. A mechanic told me that I would need a new manifold and the valve assembly to reinstall. He also says this was common on these engines and the removal has added pressure which can lead to a oil leak out the spiral track in the rear of the engine. Does this make since? Is this an expensive fix. I prefer to work on my Bugeye myself, is this something that's fairly easy to do?

Hi, it shouldnt be too bad a job. If you have the original style inlet manifold without the fitting for the valve you may be able to get it tapped to accept the pcv valve (item 62 in the link).

All parts should be available to do this whether they're new or second hand. If buying used I would get a new diaphragm (item 67) cause if this is torn the set-up wont work correctly

You would also need the cannister on the front timing chain cover which connects to the pcv via a rubber hose, to draw vacuum from the block.
