TR4/4A pcv valve plus breather tube?

That filter should server a similar function to the wire mesh in the oil filler cap on a TR4 right? Scott

That was my idea. The PCV looked to me to be a half attempt at emissions control (with removal of the tube.) It's in the box if the next guy doesn't like what I did but he's gonna have to wait a while.

TR4A cap should look like this one, with a vent hole, breather filter mesh, and cap. https://www.triumphexp.com/phile/7/5785/68_GT6_Before_and_After_096C.jpg

The TR4 flame-trap system used a sealed TR4 non-vented cap.

Following is copied from a VTR forum post:
Piggott states that the TR4A oil filler cap incorporated a metered valve which allowed air to be sucked in. In pictures it looks quite different from the breather cap on the 3s and early 4s as well as different from those on the 250s and 6s (which look more like a traditional radiator cap). I'm having a heck of a time finding one. Moss does not carry the proper cap for the 4A and recommends purchasing the cap for the closed circuit 4 (which is, again, the same one they sell for the 250 and 6, the one that looks like a radiator cap) and then drilling a hole 1/8" or 0.125" in diameter through the cap for venting.

So with sail's arrangement is air being sucked into or blown out thru the filter ?

Being that I have both, but the car runs great, it there a problem in leaving them both?

Don't ask me, I'm sensing doubt as to my setup. Here is the cap that came on the car and an earlier one.
