On my 1275 engine I've got a hose going from the 'can' in the timing chain cover to the original MG PCV valve, to manifold intake. Seems fine.

Anyone using another type of PCV valve other than the metal mushroom that's original?

I'm using a different type than the pancake. Paul A. put it in. It screws into the manifold where the pancake usually pipes from, and without a breather, as on the side of the pancake goes directly to the "can" on the timing chain cover. '

I had thought that he left off the PCV valve altogether and obtained a pancake one. I undid the hose to put the pancake on and LO and BEHOLD there's something screwed into the manifold. .. ... hmmmmm.. I have no more information than that to share about its origin.
 
There's really not much to take a picture of. There's a black hose running from the manifold to the "can".
 
Any PCV that is for an engine smaller than 2 liter would be just fine- I have been using the old ones that I take off of Datsun 210's for many years and they work fine.
Anything that your O'Reilleys of Autozone has on the card rack will work.
The one that Paul put on BillL's was just a common one that he found and he just disguised it with the housing of the BMC PVC unit.
The ones that I use are the inline types that hook up to a 1/2 hose on each end.
