Ha I see you saw that ad also, I already have my DVR set to record it, but with the clip it seems like it isn't starting, probably some easy fix they don't know lol...and they are proclaiming some super profit it seems... not like its a bugeye or anything lol

?????????????????

Did I miss this? I taped all the episodes and didn't see the sprite?

Anyone know anything?

Tx-

George

Watched, no Sprite tonight.
I did a search and looks like it will be on the next episode.

Last night's episode I saw at 11:00PM CST was a repeat, so no sprite :frown:

What I notice about most of their vehicle purchases is they pay someone to fix them up and then try to sell them for big dollars.

Personally I think there's more profit margin in mildly fixing something to the point of reliable and letting the new owner customize it them self. BUT they might be onto something I don't know. Or the culture of Las Vegas (or are they in Reno) is probably way different than central Iowa.

Paying for a restore on a big Healey is liable to pay off moreso than dumping a ton of money into a Sprite

I think they get all the work on their restorations done amazingly cheap, must be a lot cheaper out there or they bring the guy a lot of work.

I bet the episode will be about Rick thinking he is buying a big Healey and when the old man sees it he calls him an idiot for buying a Midget.

IAW the guide I have (Zap2it), it will show on 5 April, 9 PM CDT (next Monday) and repeat on 12 April @ 7 PM CDT.

Episode: Helmet Head (NEW)
The shop has a chance to buy a 2006 NBA championship ring; collectible 1964 Austin Healy car built in Britain; 1800s diving helmet.

On the History Channel.

They are about three blocks off Fremont St in Vegas.

Yep the preview don't exactly line up with show date. hopefully it wo't sneak up on me, I think I may recornd the entire series to be sure.

I like seeing some of the stuff that comes in, interesting old firearms and shipwreck treasure and things like that. Them restoring the old mans car was cool, but I would have liked to see more action centered on the restoration - however I know it's not that kind of show.

I just saw the Sprite in a promo for Pawn Stars show next Monday at 10:00 pm EDST. It is black and newer than my Mk 2 as it is a rollup window variety.

Saw the teaser as well, laughed at the no-start thing... Any one of us woulda been under-bonnet and had it goin' in ten-or-less, methinks.

I'm curious as to what comments/perceptions are voiced.

Good lord.. 6 grand to rebuild a 1098?

I'm in the wrong business

My own personal opinion is that the car was worth 2500 as it sat there (in Iowa.)

So that gives me a whole new perspective on the rest of the items featured on the show. Especially the prices he pays Rusty Nuts to restore the vehicles.

I'm not sure what's more funny.....that Rick paid $5000 for a non-running Sprite or that his mechanic buddy said it needs a $6000 engine!

Hey! I've got a couple of engines sitting in the garage I will gladly make a deal with them for!!

I noticed 2 things about the Sprite segment that bothered me. First, the guy that was trying to sell it said he drove it in, but when Rick tried to start it the temp gauge was at zero. Second, the mechanic pointed to a crankshaft and said it was out of this car. The crank was not a spridget crank, looked like a V8 crank to me. I agree with Luke, about $2,500 as it sat, maybe $4,000-$5,000 if it ran.
Rick E

I don't think he was saying that crankshaft was out of the car, I think he was using it as an example so that Rick would know what he was talking about (or the TV crew told him to say that so that they could show an example on TV)

I tuned in for the Sprite piece but Holy Cow that
flint lock coach gun was KILLER. Geeeesh it was pretty
and evil all at the same time.
