Parts suppliers

I just wanted to know the different parts suppliers that people on here have used and how have you found their service and even pricing. I recently used a supplier and when I got their invoice I was shocked at the pricing. Many of the parts were Moss parts and yet the prices were double or triple Moss prices. Not a happy camper at all> I know I could return them but that is not the way I am. Instead I wont use them unless I need to find an elusive part. BTW.. does anyone have an original turn signal indicator (chrome cover with the green arrow? Unfortunately Moss"s is not close to the original. My car is a 1966 BJ8

thanks
Leo

I have used Moss, Little British Car Company and AH Spares. I use Moss direct when I need something really quick, great service and fast shipping. Usually the highest prices. Little British Car is a Moss and others' reseller. He gives a flat discount off Moss pricing. Delivery is a bit slower because it has to get to him, he repackages it and sends it on to you. AH Spares is from England and they have great service and great pricing. However, you need to run a spreadsheet and calculate the exchange rate and compare to your domestic supplier prices. A lot of Moss product comes from AH. Need to be careful on shipping as international postage is based on weight and package size. They also do service work and are renewing my gauges now. I have used all three of these a lot and will use them again.

I've used Moss, Tom's Import Toys, British Parts Northwest, Healey Surgeons and British Car Specialsts.

Tom's will discount off Moss but it takes a little longer. Inan Phillips at Healey Surgeons is very knowledgable, as are Brit Car Specialists. Healey Surgeons has a partnership with AH Spares so if you have time, you can save on shipping if you order thru Surgeons and wait for one of their monthly bulk shipments. I bought a Bell exhaust this way and saved at least $100 in shipping. BP Northwest carries a limited stock but often has the best price on what they do have. Brit Specialists have extensive used part selection so they along with Surgeons can be a source for hard-to-find used parts.

Passing along some caveats: SC Parts in Britain has evidently been bought out and there have been some problems with people paying and not getting their goods. Some of my friends bought BN6/7 tops from them that were terrible. I bought some poorly-engineered parts. Just because the Brits are selliing it doesn't mean it's not made in China.

I've bought some things from Cape International that didn't work out. Their rear shock setup broke. They were very responsive when it came to sales but basically blew me off when the shock mounts broke.

When you buy something from Britain, keep in mind the shipping is going to be really expensive and returns are going to be prohibitively expensive.

Along with the other part supply company's listed here...I have used Victoria British and even The Roadster factory that specializes in Triumph parts...some parts are interchangeable. Don't forget Summit Racing for inner tubes 9 bucks each! As opposed to 22 23 Dollars from the usual sources. Super Walmart for Nexen tires, 52 dollars each. Also don't forget Mc Master for hardware and specialized tooling, Eastwood for silver wheel paint and body working supply... Lowe's for hardware and rubber grommets ...pep boys for carpet insulation 25 bucks, Metric hardware at ace.. Sherwin willams for body paint and supply.... The list goes on!

... BTW.. does anyone have an original turn signal indicator ...

I bought a used dash some weeks ago, there are two in it. Only one is in good condition, the other torn.
P.m. me your adres. Don't worry about the stamps ;-)

Hans

Also a great source of vender listings is Hemmings Motor news....I have a Special Edition of Hemmings that has a incredible list of venders from every corner of the planet! Now if I could remember where I put it???
