I came home yesterday to a big box with a nice "EMPI" logo across the front. Inside were my new carbs and linkage, along with a few other little bits added in .
So, of course they were installed on the VW by 9 pm, ready to get the fuel system figured out.
Tonight I went out and fiddled with a few setups trying to get the high pressure electric pump to come down to 3-4 psi to feed the carbs. The way I had it first, after completely filling one of the carbs with fuel (Looks like an oil change is in order)I realized was totally wrong. I looked at it afterward and it was one of those "Duh!" moments.
So I hooked it up right and found out that my fuel pressure regulator is toast.
Sooo... long story short, I found out after the fact that I need a mechanical advance dizzy (Explains that in the dodgy instructions I got with the carbs), and figured if I'm ordering that, I might as well order the blasted mechanical pump as well, and do things right.( It was in the same price range as a good regulator)
So now I wait again for more parts... I will drive this thing someday!
