I had a rusty old oil pan and made one of those electrolysis deals and it work well.
. I put the part in for 48 hours and then cleaned it with a scotch brit. All the rust, grease, paint, and dirt were lose after it had set for the 48 hours and cleaned up easy with hot water and soap plus dried with compressed air. I used a DC variable power supply set at 12 volts

Steve - thanks for the details. I've only done that on much smaller parts, but it worked well.

That is quite an EICO charger you have there!

I have successfully used the electrolysis method many times for rusty parts. (y)
 
I've done this a few times. I've found it to be a little messier than that video implies, but it's easy to do, works well, and the materials are cheap. If you need to derust a lot of small parts, dumping them all in a vibratory tumbler is simpler, but for large, single items, it's quite practical.
