Well, the car that arrived last night that was originally intended just to be a parts car seems so, well nice! My 74.5 had no hood at all so the fact that the 75 had a brand new top recently installed was reason enough to purchase it. I was also going to swap out the seats, steering wheel etc. Now that it is sitting in my garage, and some buffing has shown there to be a little shine left in the paint, I am starting to feel a little guilty about robbing parts from it. Is this normal?? The body seems completely rust free and I even found a nice tonneau cover in the trunk. Decisions decisions.......
 
Easy decision - if its too good for a parts car, clean it up/repair it so it runs & keep it or flip it!
 
hate to see a rust-free MG get pirated... I'd say shine 'er up, get 'er running, and flip it for 3X what you bought it for. then use that money to buy a real parts car, and a new top. (snag the tonneau.. the next owner dosen't have to know it had one when you got it)
 
Guess that's one prob living in Calif, no rusty old parts cars.
 
Yup, definatly a good candidate for a cleanin and a flippin...There is good money to be made that way....heck it put me through college!
 
hehe - so no one on this board says break her up for parts - go figure! I am thinking there might be some sneaky part swaping (seats, center console, etc) then get her running and flip. Then use the profit for a top. Jack, you are right. One of the problems about living in SoCal - lack of rust. Boy do I miss it................
 
Lack of rust, must be nice. You guys bragging or complaining. Sometimes seems all you you have to do to get a car to rust here is just look at it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif
 
I got an idea, I'll bet Tony will swap parts cars for no rust cars. Maybe even two for one. Now there's a deal for you west coast guys.
 
I went to look at an old bug a guy called me about on Monday. Got to his home and there sat an immaculate 66 bug...all original down to the window rubber, paint, 6 volt radio still plays great. He has advanced Parkinsons and has been told to get his affairs in order. While I was hooking up the tow bar...he asked if I'd be interested in another"old German car" His neighbor lady has her ecently passed husband's 450 SEL in the garage with a dead battery and wants it gone..like right now. Went and looked...looks factory fresh. I go today at 2pm with a new battery and my checkbook. Ironic thing is...I'm a retired Msgt. from the Air Force and my job was aircraft hydraulics. BOTH of thes guys are also retired Msgts...and both were aircraft hydraulics. Kind of makes you wonder.
 
Forgot...bottom line is when he called me about the bug I thought I was going there to buy a parts car....boy do I miss rusty cars like we had back in upstate New York:>
 
Ha, something for you to clean up and resell to pay for your pasion. Sounds like two good deals.
