I posted this around ten years ago, but I'm in a weird mood and decided to bring the video back.

Would love to have gotten a chance to go to Europe back then. I did go to Paris in the mid-nineties, there is a picture of me in front of the the Arc de Triomphe, similar to the video, traffic was relatively light, but my wife was still yelling at me about getting killed on our honeymoon.

I was lucky to go to Europe in the mid 1960s, before the Mega-Bus tourist bus epidemic hit. The closest thing to a McDonalds was a Wimpy's in the UK, and close to KFC was "Wienerwald" fried chicken in West Berlin. And on July 1, 1967, Sweden changed from driving on the left, to driving on the right. I watched the changeover - and hardly anyone drove over about 10 mph.

very nice - apparently more USA cars than I expected. Saw a big Jag and a Panhard taxi. I have been enjoying these lately.

My maternal grandmother who was a high school teacher traveled for a week or two every summer during the 50s and 60s with a group of fellow teachers. South America, Europe, Aisa and northern Africa generally. Back in the days before tourism became what it is today. I have a number of photos of her by herself or with others in the party in front of landmarks and with locals.

A few photos of western Europe and UK in 1967. Wish I could find my Berlin Checkpoint Charlie photos; East German guards wouldn't let me take my camera into East Berlin, or use the camera on the train across East Germany between Braunschweig (?) and Berlin West Bhf.

I remember the guards and machine guns on the watch towers in the farm fields between Braunschweig and Berlin. On the train, we were warned not to wave to the people in the fields; if they waved back, they'd be arrested ... or shot.
