On that day, he - and thousands of other Parisians - went to mass at Notre Dame cathedral. Snipers continued firing on the streets.
 
The Maquis were some of France's best.
 
I am going to a seminar at the local college to hear a talk by Marthe Cohn. She was a French resistance fighter during German occupied France. She is 100 years old. I am looking forward to meeting this remarkable woman.
