Parents go for a spin

I posted this in the pub as well, but I wanted to share my video of me taking the parents out for a spin in the Tunebug. They were out in Utah for a visit this weekend, and we had good weather. The little car did well, and now I can start the big projects for the summer.

Nice Video! Looks like the parents were enjoying themselves. I'm jealous of the good weather. Out here in New Jersey we are just drying out after a Noreaster!.

Keep those pics and videos coming!

I sure hope front shocks are on your list Drew.

Nice video.

You like the bouncy-bouncy? They've been on the list since before I bought the car. One of these days...

My parents are heading back to RI today -- almost had to stay longer since that storm knocked down a wall at the RI airport!

Great... now they can really appreciate all the mods that you do before their next visit!

Then we'll have videos of the Tunebug climbing the mountain pass?

Re: Looks like fun!

Peter C is the guy for shocks. You going to have to have em so get em now. Think he will send you rebuilt ones and you can then return the cores keeping the tunebug on the road.

Re: Looks like fun!

No cash for it right now, Jack. I did grab the front pair from the Midget, so I've got a set of cores to send in when I'm ready.

Re: Looks like fun!

Understand that but put it way up top on your list of things to do. You will be amazed at the difference.

Re: Looks like fun!

Drew, my quicktime player wouldn't play it, said something about some plug-in being unavailable on the quicktime server, argg.
I did hear it though, it sounded like fun!

Re: Looks like fun!

It's probably an MPEG-4 movie, and you may need a more recent version of QT to be able to play it.

I was able to view it on my work PC (running XP and IE7, with the latest Quick Time installed) and my Mac at home. Do let me know if you can't get it to work, as I may need to try a different video encoder for better accessibility.

Re: Looks like fun!

I am having the same problem!! I can listen to it OK but QT says the update is not available :m!! SOUNDS like fun though!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Re: Looks like fun!

There's nothing like taking the parents out for a drive in our cars!
Took my mom for her first drive in a convertable midget last week! That was fun. I wish I had the forethought to record it.

Re: Looks like fun!

use .avi files instead of QT Droo.....
QT is more MAC ....we're on PCs!
and, new shocks make a HUGE difference!

Not ALL of us are on PeeCees! Some of us are on Macs, and some of those are on Macs can that run both the Mac OS and various versions of Windows -- natively!

And yes, QuickTime is cross platform too.

BTW, on my Mac I use the Mac OS for serious work (like checking into BCF <grin>) and Windows XP Pro for running Need for Speed Most Wanted -- Black List Edition. LOL!

Agreed on the shocks. I put a pair of Peter C front shocks on the street Midget last summer and the improvement was nothing short of dramatic!

Cheers all!

Tim

Re: Looks like fun!

Okay, I've done some investigating and found out the issue. iMovie (Apple's free movie editor) uses a default encoding for web quality output that requires the latest QT7 to be installed -- for the geeks among us, it's H.264. Good quality, but limited accessibility.

I've updated the movie now using different settings. This should now be playable on Macs and PCs with at least QT6 installed. Haven't done a lot of video work in 10 years, and I find that all I used to know about video codecs has changed dramatically in that time. Had to do a bit of re-education.
